Herend holds a rich history spanning many years, crossing many oceans and charming generation after generation to enjoy worldwide acclaim as the pinnacle in supreme porcelain, also known as “white gold.” Now the biggest porcelain manufactory in Europe, Herend was founded in 1826 to produce pottery, but in 1839 a major turning point occurred when Mor Fischer became the manufacturer’s new owner. Taking Herend in an entirely new direction, visionary Fischer carved out the unique niche of producing dinnerware replacement pieces for Europe’s royal families to complement their valuable porcelain patterns from Germany and the Far East.
Named after the colorful robes of Imperial Chinese officers (mandarins), these fish are surprisingly shy considering their appearance. But in nature colorful rarely means life-of-the-party and these fish use their kaleidoscopic brilliance to alert others to their less than appetizing taste (they are covered in a smelly mucus that protects them from disease but also makes them taste bad). A fish seemingly designed for the painter's brush, the artists at Herend have used multiple techniques to beautifully immortalize this exotic reef-dweller.

L'OBJET earthenware is dishwasher safe using a gentle energy efficient air-dry cycle or may be handwashed and dried with a soft cloth. Do not overload dishwasher. Handwash oversize pieces and pieces composed of both Earthenware and Metal. Avoid abrasive soaps and detergents containing citrus scents or additives. After use, rinse in hot water to avoid prolonged contact with acidic substances which can stain finish. When storing, stack carefully to avoid scratches in the finish. Pieces with gold or platinum accents are not suitable for the microwave.
